| The original is still tops, May 15, 2008 |

| Ms. Levy is the grandmother of modern day animal herbalists and showed a commitment and dedication to the well being of dogs through the use of natural diets and herbal treatment that today has been fully justified. She not only pioneered the way into the field of natural rearing of dogs and other farm animals, she openly shared her knowledge with others through books and mentoring. This classic book is still tops in my library and one I continue to use when looking for the right response to any situation my dogs present me. As we learn more through research on herbal topics it is clear that Ms Levy was way ahead of her time with clear insight and careful study of the use of herbs in raising and keeping dogs healthy. |

Your review:
Long before Dr. Pitcairn and Dr. Billinghurst, one woman stood out as the mother of holistic care for dogs and cats. Juliette de Baraclai-Levy wrote this book in the 1940's, and even in the 21st century, it offers excellent advice on natural care for dogs and cats.
The herbal remedies themselves are timeless gems that many, many before us used to keep their pets thriving, but even more important is the glimpse into the beginnings of what many now call natural rearing. Not only did Juliette show us how to use herbs and diet to our advantage, but she used common sense, fresh air, sunshine and good old fashioned exercise to maintain a healthy kennel and healthy dogs that we could all aspire to.
This is the bible of holistic remedies, written before science got crazy with medications for every little itch and twitch. Keep a copy on hand at all times! No matter how many of them you wear out! If there's one book I wouldn't be without, this is it. |

| A must-have book for anybody interested in natural dog-care, health and healing. I was wonderfully overwhelmed by the wealth of information contained in this book and I know I will reference it time and again for years to come. While I thought I knew a lot about the natural care of dogs, the author has an intuitive and deep understanding that I have never encountered before. I did have some trouble with the older-style language and grammer, but loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who already does or is interested in feeding a raw diet to their dogs or anyone interested in the natural health care of their dogs. |
