| A Valuable Lay Person's Guide to Dog Laws, April 18, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Donna Rongione |
'Every Dog's Legal Guide' provides an informative and useful set of guidelines about dog laws in various states. Author Mary Randolph is an attorney, but she writes the book in plain-English format. With charts, examples, and definitions, she simplifies complicated legal issues.
Randolph discusses rights of people harmed by dogs as well as owners of dogs. The potential legal ramifications of dog and owner actions - from nuisance situations to serious injuries - are clearly outlined. She emphasizes effects on finances, insurance, and life and limb (human and canine). In an appendix, the author provides many resources that can be accessed for additional information.
Randolph inserts many illustrations and text boxes with examples and stories, some of which are funny. Throughout the chapters, she also includes helpful charts of state laws on some of the more common legal dog issues.
I recommend this for any person considering owning a dog or someone who currently owns a dog with some issues. It would also help neighbors annoyed by dogs or aware of situations where dogs are not being treated properly. |
