Expanded Description:
When Marines enter an abandoned house in Fallujah, Iraq, and hear a suspicious noise, they edge around the corner and prepare to open fire. What they find during the US-led attack, however, is not an insurgent bent on revenge, but a tiny puppy left behind when most of the city's population fled before the bombing. Despite the military law that forbids the keeping of pets, the Marines de-flea the puppy with kerosene, de-worm him with chewing tobacco, and fill him up on Meals Ready to Eat. Thus begins the dramatic rescue attempt of a dog named Lava and Lava's rescue of at least one Marine, Lieutenant Colonel Jay Kopelman, from the emotional ravages of war.

I liked it, I'm not big into the army (not interested in that kind of thing), but I found it reasonably interesting and a nice story especially for someone that enjoys that kind of thing.
Uplifting. |

| I really enjoyed this book, It was a page turner , I felt like I was there with them in Baghdad. I also learned alot of what its like over there for the dogs and the way the war is going on that side of the street. Lava is the funnest little dog and I would read this one again. |
