Sound Advice for Improving Your Breeding Program, June 14, 2008
Reviewer: WorkingDogz
Any breeder wishing to improve their litters should watch this video. Even though this was filmed several years ago (entry fees were only $13 if that gives you and idea of how long ago!) the information is far from outdated. The concepts are simple, and you don't have to be a 'genetic genius' to follow Dr. Battaglia's stick dog method for evaluating pedigrees and making good breeding decisions.
I am personally evaluating breedings looking for my next competition dog, and by using the information I learned in this DVD, it has helped me to objectively evaluate things I might have otherwise overlooked.
My only complaint is that lot of time was spent on evaluating a dog's front assembly, but surprisingly very little time was devoted to a dog's rear assembly. Maybe the live seminar spends more time on this, but I would have liked to have seen equal time devoted to the other half of a dog's structure. |

Highly informative, January 24, 2007

This video is very informative and thought provoking. It is a great supplement to his book. I found that I picked up more watchiing him explain the pedigree research than I ever did reading. I was extremely fascinated with the case study of mising teath and how the recessive genetic trait for it can remain buried for several generation. It is a lot of information to get in two hours and you'll be glad you own it as you'll surely want to watch it several times. It is also a great addition to breed club libraries.
