Reviewer: David Port
An amazing book. It explains the difference in training philosophy for the working dog vs. pet dogs like no other book I've ever read. It also refers to behavioral concepts that are popular in the pet dog training world, but that are thought to be unknown or unpopular in the working dog world (positive reinforcement, breaking each routine into small steps, etc.).

But the reason I bought this book was the chapter titled, 'The Grip - Or How To Evaluate a Trainer.' This chapter is perhaps the most important chapter in the book for those who are training a dog to do bitework. Blind trust in a trainer can result in a ruined dog. This chapter tells the new handler what to look for, and what to be on the lookout for, in a trainer.

I was going to keep this book for myself, but it is going to go to a friend who bought one of my puppies.
