| A Must for Every Competitor, November 29, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Tycho |
For someone just getting interested into the sport of Schutzhund, this book provides an excellent overview. It will leave the reader with a solid understanding of all aspects of the sport. The book covers the such topics as the pros and cons of choosing a dog - a puppy, a young dog or a fully trained adult dog.
There are two aspects to the book that will be of particular interest to the beginner (and even a seasoned competitor) the first is a section that outlines what judges are looking for in each exercise and how to avoid losing points. The second important part of the book is the section on problem solving. The authors address some of the common problems that one might encounter in training and competition and offer several methods to fix them.
Overall, this is an excellent book from one of the best schutzhund trainers and the 2007 FCI World Champion. While the reader will likely buy additional books on the individual aspects of the sport, I think they will find themselves coming back to this book again and again. |
