This is the 2nd edition of Tracking with Steve and Jennifer White. The six DVDs include lecture, video presentations, power point graphics, and hands-on tracking instruction. There are at least two methods each for tracking, article identification and scent discrimination. The class works with their dogs using the lessons learned in the lecture. A hands-on seminar with lots of outdoor tracking experience. The focus is on getting the dog ready to pass the VST TRACKING PROGRAM. (DVD COVERS MAY VARY AND CHANGE)
The 2nd Edition uses the original footage from a 2005 seminar, but has been totally re-edited and enhance both visually and audio. It now includes power point slides and is menu driven. It also includes a data disc with hand-outs and the power point in pdf format. This new version with menus makes it much easier to see the steps of training and then work with your dog and be able to come back to the video for a review or the next step. Easy to follow.
This seminar was taped in Sacramento, California and was sponsored by the Sacramento Dog Training Club.

I'm impressed! I'm only 1/2 way through the DVD, and it's long....... But the amount of information, the applicability, and the presentation is wonderful! Steve's wife ran a microphone around to participants, but Steve repeats and addresses each question concisely and appropriately.
The time spent outdoors watching and analysing the tracks is as valuable as the lecture. Steve analyses & debriefs beautifully. His method makes sense, and I can't wait to get out & work with it.
I also appreciate his willingness to say he's changed his methods, he credits others, and speaks the operant conditioning language well. He's got a mastery of the topic and it shows, and when he's not sure about something he is willing to say so.
I can't wait until he gets to the section on how to effectively use a camcorder. |
