Ditto that, August 9, 2008

I was also looking for a book to help me start the dog-walking portion of my business. How to walk multiple dogs, How to add a new dog to your pack, pricing, etc.- and being a trainer, I found the training advice pretty old school and a little disconcerting. I did get some tips though, such as always get the name and contact info of a family member or neighbor just in case of emergency (don't know why I didn't think of that myself, but I didn't)

If you are looking for some personal anecdotes from one person's experience, you may like this book. I was searching for good hands-on knowledge of walking multiple dogs at once, dealing with pricing and more technical aspects of the business-- hoping to really use this as a reference. The experiences the author refers to seem to be transporting dogs and letting them socialize off leash—nothing about walking dogs on lead (multiples or otherwise) at all. The only thing I took away from this book was the name of a biodegradable poop bag that I'd been looking for. The dog behavior information was extremely basic when present, the organization and preparation info was common sense and the stories of how people and city ordinances can be unpleasant were, quite frankly, old news to those of us who have been into dogs for any time at all. For my time and money, this book was not a good investment.
