Incorrect information about the breed, December 12, 2009
Reviewer: nina
Monica's nutrition section has useful, well-researched information and is well written. But, the section by the vet is terrible. There is incorrect information about the breed standard including weight, colors, character, etc. Very misleading information about hypoglycemia- says to bring dog to vet for boluses of IV glucose. Dog would probably die on the way- first step in hypoglycemia is always give karo syrup or other source of sugar immediately! BEFORE driving to a vet or anything else. Many, many, many health conditions are listed for the breed that are practically non-existent in the breed (How many cases of PRA have you heard of in purebred Chihuahuas?? There is more misinformation, but these are the main issues. Monica does a great job as usual but her vet partner- not so great.
