Excellent source for working dog owners!!, December 29, 2008
Reviewer: E Spencer
As the trainer of several working dogs I really enjoyed this book. Although it is very short it has a large amount of good information and step by step guides to implement a training program for your dog or puppy. I personally have taken one dog through it and was so satisfied with the results I have started my new puppy on it. A must read for working dog owners of any sport!

For the Dedicated & Disciplined Trainer/Owner, February 24, 2008
Reviewer: Stephanie
All in all, this short book provided a vast amount of information in a very cut and dry format. (This is what you do, how you do it, and when you do it.) Some information I would toss aside, namely the use of the head halter and the aversive way it is suggested to be used. I didn't care for the fact that there were suggestions on desensitizing a puppy to a head halter, but basically just thrown onto an adult dog and letting him get over it. Other than that, it's a cut and dry program and even if you cannot follow it in its entirety there are plenty pieces of the program to use. I would recommend using this book in conjunction with the author's DVD, Crate Games.
What I liked best:
- Stressed that this is not an isolation program
- Very black and white instructions
- Quick reference guide for the program
- Plenty of ideas on record keeping
- Thorough instructions on what to do and when to progress |

Though I personally can not follow a regimen like that suggested in Ruff Love, the foundation ideas behind this book were very helpful with my spoiled golden. I felt that many aspects of the program would be extremely helpful for pet owners who have dogs that rule their lives. I'm not sure WHO actually follows the whole program, but the parts that I have taken away from this read were useful.
