NOT Positive, February 18, 2008
Reviewer: Daphne
This book was an extreme disappointment. I was trying to find some ideas/ways to help my adolescent shelter adoptee dog. I have done positive/clicker training for years. I was a little dumbfounded when every other page spoke of jerking the dog and physically correcting the dog.
At first, I thought maybe I could use some ideas from the book but as I'm trying to establish a positive bond between me and my dog, I will not use any of these methods. Too bad, I was hoping for some positive training ideas to help her. |

AWFUL, January 31, 2008

I'd give 0 paws if I could! There is nothing hip or fun about jerking the leash (for not walking with you), spraying the dog in the face (for barking or not dropping something), knocking the feet out from under the dog (if jumping on someone else)... Need I go on? Boy was I fooled by the title and the quick glance I took at the show! I will never get another book by these authors!

Skip It, November 9, 2007
Reviewer: Michol Langelett
Although the second half of the book has some great pictures and ideas, the first half seals the rating. The authors need to pick up some of the great books and DVD's that have been written and filmed over the last ten years or so and catch up on some of the advancements that have been made in dog behavior. The old, tired advice about how food will ruin serious training is laid out fairly soon as you read. No advice is given for what to do throughout the book if you happen to have one of the dogs who objects or reacts to being shoved and forced to do what you want. Keep browsing, there are much better books available.
