Methods quite harsh, May 6, 2009
Reviewer: Monica
I received this book as a gift from a friend. After reading through a few chapters it was apparent that the trainer uses, what I consider, harsh training methods. The fetching tricks were taught by teaching a forced retrieve using a choke collar and twisting it until the dog takes what you want. To teach climbing tricks, like how to climb a ladder, he advises you pull up on the leash attached to a choke collar until you lift your dog legs up and continue pulling up on the choke collar until your dog climbs the ladder. These training methods seem quite rough in general but especially when speaking about teaching parlor tricks to your dog.
