Expanded Description:
Using slides, examples from her case files, and dozens of videos, Dr. Karen London discusses both dog-dog and dog-human play. She also discusses the relationship between aggression and play. Since aggression and play are so closely linked, considering them together provides great insight into both areas of canine behavior. Dr. London talks about recent scientific developments about play that are relevant to anybody who is interested in or spends a lot of time with dogs. (DVD COVERS MAY VARY AND CHANGE)
This seminar goes over the reasons play can escalate into aggression, how to tell if dogs playing together are acting appropriately or are headed for trouble, the signs of excessive arousal that often occur when dogs play, and includes a discussion of dogs’ play signals. Dr. London explains how following simple rules can prevent the escalation of play into aggression, the one unbreakable rule of dog-dog play, the benefits and risks of common games people play with their dogs, why play is such an important part of the relationship between people and dogs, and how play can be used to treat certain aggression cases.

| Very interesting, December 29, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Nick Hof, CPDT-KA |
I was lucky enough to have just finished Patricia McConnell's seminar on Dog Play before I watched Karen London. A portion of the video footage that Patricia uses was from Karen London and, is in fact, much of the same footage Karen uses in this seminar. This gives the viewer a unique opportunity to hear the slightly different perspectives of these two colleagues on the play we see.
All of the information covered is very interesting. I would have like to hear more about how Karen uses play to treat aggressive behavior in dogs. I really enjoyed listening to the specific cases that she talks about in the final disc. I also enjoyed her emphasis on instilling and following rules in play. |

| Karen was funny and easy to listen to. It was great to hear from a scientist about the research on play. The best part was all of the footage of dogs playing in both good and bad ways. I learned so much. |
