Should be on every book shelf, February 5, 2007
Reviewer: Michol Langelett
As an instructor this is among the top five books that I have loaned out the most to students. It's a little book with tons of information on working with fearful dogs. Whether your dog is showing these signs by avoidance or reactivity this book can help you. Each chapter features a personal story detailing the progress and difficulties faced by an individual, concluding with the eventual success and deepened relationship as a result of all the hard work. These truly are inspiring if you are going through this yourself and need a bit of encouragement along the way. Well written and easily understood.

The title says it all, this is a must have for anyone working with dogs. Pet owners will benifit from understanding shyness and how to help their dog overcome it. There is a lot you can do to help your dog become more confident, unfortunately we usually do the opposite. This book addresses every aspect of living with a shy dog and is punctuated by inspiring stories from owners whose dogs overcame their shyness and went on to greatness.
