Based on junk science (wolf pack/alpha nonsense), August 27, 2009
Reviewer: Andre Yeu
The whole premise of this book is based on wolf pack / alpha / leadership nonsense that is outdated and incorrect. If you'd like to believe that eating before your dogs, or entering rooms first before your dog, etc. does anything and that behavior problems occur when a dog feels like it is the alpha then go ahead and buy this book.

Simple and effective is better..., October 15, 2008
Reviewer: Cheryl
In finding a friend for our original dog, we adopted another rescue dog who sent us on quite the journey as we all struggled to live together cohesively. Obedience and agility classes, a fine behaviorist, exchanging ideas with friends, watching shows, and hours spent on reading books related to helping dogs become balanced and happy have definitely made me a better dog owner. The result of that work is we're coming up on the one-year anniversary of the last brawl, but there was still some room for improvement. The Dog Listener was my most recent read and it is definitely the cherry on the sundae. The approach is very simple and respectful, taking into account the dog's perspective, which makes it doable for any dog owner. Our dogs immediately responded by visibly relaxing more and becoming more playful with each other. We likely had a quicker response because of our previous work, but in sharing it with others they've experienced the same rapid effect. Ms. Fennell's approach is very effective because our dogs no longer need a translator. We are speaking 'dog' and they are listening.

Interesting but...., July 14, 2007
Reviewer: Linda
Easy to read, most of this book content makes sense, but.....
It seems too easy to be true !!!!
I guess for the author it's all that simple, but I have reserves that all behavior problems can be solved only by dominance.... |
