Thank you, Pam!, November 3, 2006
Reviewer: Ann Ford
My Border Collie, Jenny, DRAGGED me through our first time at Pam's rally obedience seminar, who I thought would never be able to do anything off leash, earned her ARCHX, with scores of 208, 209, 207 and a perfect score of 210! Jenny has established quite a fan club and everyone knows how hard we have trained. When she got her 210, you could have heard a pin drop, she was drop-dead gorgeous and smiled the whole way through, everyone cried when we got our ARCHX ribbon. I proudly announced that it was thanks to Pam, Shadow & Beau for getting us started and inspired us, and to our trainer for supporting us through our training journey to get us where we are. I never thought that the endless fight of trying to overcome our heeling/forging/distraction problems would result in Jenny's heeling now being one of her positive strong points. Referring to both Shadow's book and Pam's positive- training book, having to back-step many times in order to go forward, has resulted in such a happy little dog who now loves to work. I'm sure others have benefitted also from Pam's books but need for you to know I could not have done all of this without her. I have become a better handler/trainer by thinking smarter, not working harder, and stepping outside the box. Thank you, Pam, Shadow & Beau from the bottom of my heart!

Great Book!!, July 27, 2006

Pam's book is the most clearly written positive training book I have yet to read. While it echoes and complements many other positive trainers such as Miller, Aloff and Bach, it is distinctive, not only for its very clear writing and good index and layout, but it has 2 chapters worth the purchase price—the one on dogs and kids, and the one on how to fit training into a busy lifestyle. It has quickly become my bible, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I have read all the books on positive dog training as well as attending many classes. The Complete Idiot's Guide is the best by far not only brilliant but so easy to read and follow. Even though both my dogs attended many clicker classes I started all over using Pam's method. Recently, we rescued a dog who was abused by its previous owner and suffering from shelter shock (walking in circles). I immediately started Pam's protocol with Sox and am pleased in the progress she has made in 3 short months. I couldn't do it with Pam!
