Advocating for Kids & Dogs, March 10, 2008
Reviewer: Julia Lane/Spot On K9s
When one of my training clients called me out of concern that her dog had nipped a visiting small child who pulled her tail, I asked for a book recommendation for this family on the Association of Pet Dog Trainers list. Three of my colleagues replied and they all recommended Pelar's book. I ordered a copy and was so impressed by Pelar's emphasis on safety and mutual respect between child and dog that I gave additional copies to my family members with small children. The handy one-page guide showing how to read a dog's body language is worth the price alone.

Great Resource for Parents, November 3, 2006

This is a fabulous book for anyone with kids and dogs. It is written in a clear, easy-to-read style that makes it a great choice for anyone looking for information on how to stay sane in a household that includes kids and dogs. I've recommended it to many of my clients, and I talk about the 'Be a Tree' method and the 'Freeze Dance' all the time in training classes.

I really enjoyed this book. I have been recommending it my clients that have children/dog questions. I think Colleen gives a great honest assessment of the challenges and joys of children and dog relationships.
Thanks for a great book. |
