| An excellent value!, October 27, 2009 |
| Reviewer: David B |
I do wish it had better lighting and production quality. Especially on the seminar parts, where lighting and production could be better controled than in a shelter enviroment. But this DVD set (2), is very much worth the money spent! I shared it with one of the rescue groups I volunteer for. There, I was able to see it on a large projection screen. The large screen added a lot, by being able to better observe the behaviors over a home TV system. That marked the third time I have sat through the entire DVD since I got it about mid-summer. That's getting your money's worth! There are quite a few Hollywood big production movies I don't even give a second screening to.
The DVD set could be made a required part of shelter staff and volunteer training to the benefit of all. |

| Excellent- A Must-Have for anyone with a dog, July 7, 2009 |

| This has been a staple in my libary. I probably learned more from this video than most of the other videos or books in my collection. Sarah Kalnajs puts on a very good seminar. The production quality is excellent, the examples are excellent and to answer one of the other reviewer's questions - knowing what your dog is saying (after all they are 'talking' to you all the time) is crucial to a very deep relationship with your dog. It is also imperitive that anyone who is training their dog recognize when their dog is unduly stressed- since stressed animals don't learn very well. |

I found this DVD very informative and well done. I learned some new things I hadn't known before. I did have a few problems with it. I found that some of the behavior being shown, they would just skim right over it but would focus a lot more time on others. I really would have liked to see expanded pieces on some of the behaviors and a more in-depth view of them, which I think this DVD lacked in some of the behavior. I also feel that some of the behavior portrayed had alternate interpretations not made known in this DVD.
Overall, although this DVD was well done and informative, I feel it lacked more in-depth, and necessary information. I don't think this is a DVD geared towards a dog owner but certainly has a place in a shelter or other like area where staff meet and interact with unfamiliar dogs on a regular basis. |
