| Disappointed, July 9, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Ashley |
I agree with the previous poster. There were even parts of this DVD where sound continued, but the visual componant failed and left me with a blue screen. That, along with many other things, should have been edited out or re-recorded.
Additionally, I was highly disappointed with the content of the DVD. The presenter seems to have no clear idea of where the discussion is going or what she will be talking about next, and spends a good portion of her time simply watchingvideo footage from case studies, without really explaining what's going on.
In one section, she 'plays' with a very young puppy (6-7 weeks) by placing it on a couch and pushing it around, moving her hands quickly and erratically. While slapping the puppy in the face repeatedly with a leather leash and making fast, jerky movements, she explains that 'this puppy has difficulty calming down.' The puppy's body language clearly shows that he wants to get away, but she repeatedly moves him closer to her. He growls at her when she picks him up, and she continues to move quickly and shove the leash in his face. I can live with choppy editing, poor videography, grainy footage, etc, but this was, above all, the most disappointing! |

| Less than I'd hoped..., June 17, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Stevie Mathre |
I'm sorry, but I did not feel this DVD worth the money.
First of all, the quality of the visuals was horrible. It was extremely grainy, lights were going on & off and levels were poorly adjusted. Zooming in on the screen for video clips was choppy and amateurish. At the end, I didn't need to watch the audience get up & walk around.
Next, Trish had a mic, but the questions asked from the audience were not repeated, and I could not tell from her answers what the question was. Most of the talk was questions, so I felt there was little value for me in listening.
I wish she had a technical person to cue up her clips, or put them on computer. The time taken to do that, find the right clip, etc, was disrupting.
The discussion had a topic, but not a readily recognized thesis. There are tips and bits of information to be gleaned from this DVD, but for the money, I was disappointed. There was not enough information, organized to easily use in my classes. Even had I been there in person, I would have been very discouraged by the lack of organization, technical competence, and presentation. |
