Expanded Description:
Pet Obedience Class Instructions shows that an "all positive" pet class can be successful. And the students love it! Leslie illustrates enlightened techniques used in her family dog program for instructing pet obedience classes, behavior consultations, and problem solving. She introduces the Really Reliable Recall in her class instruction as well as her program for balancing the owner/dog relationship.
Teaching Pet People is a thorough explanation of what punishment does, why it is inappropriate for pet dog trainers and where traditional class structure fails the pet dog student. Includes video examples of strategies from her own classes for setting up the human half of the team for success.

| Extraordinarily informative!, June 21, 2007 |

| I really enjoyed these two videos. Don’t let the age of them fool you- newbie thru advanced will learn a great deal from these videos. I really enjoyed hearing about Leslie’s approaches and how open she is about changing the format of her classes when she learns something new. She projects the image of a progressive, resourceful, humane dog trainer who is concerned about teaching her clients; both human and canine. Her descriptions of *why* and *how* she teaches something the way she does is great. Her introduction in the first cd I would love to have transcribed because she explains what her reward is for teaching dog training and is a great inspiration for new dog trainers (and possibly burnt out ones). One can hear about how to teach a recall a million times but the way she explains it sounds very fresh and informative. I’ve heard comments about the 2nd cd being all black and white but she is enough of an engaging speaker so that I never noticed it after the first 5 minutes. I was afraid when I first bought this that the material would be obviously dated and “old hat” but now I’m thinking if she was this good 10 years ago I can’t wait to see her now! |
