Major disappointment. I was looking forward to a welcome addition to round out my two favorite DVDs from Sarah Kalnajs: The Language of Dogs and Am I Safe?
wow.
First, to only use sweet mild-mannered Golden Retrievers. Hardly White Fang or Cujo labeled dogs.
Would love to see this woman try to handle my nasty biting Irish Terrier, or any terrier for that matter.
Give me a break, an evil Golden Retriever? not in this DVD.
Huge waste of money, I want my money back.
Put away your checkbook. Worst DVD I have ever seen.
I beg for a re-do, try it again using truly aggressive shelter dogs. There is no doggie makeover here, just a lot of hype.
Give this woman some German Shepherds or Rotties or Pitbulls from the inner city, now lets see who is successful in a doggie makeover?
I should have filmed my efforts with the Irish Terrier (a rescue who should have been euthanized, he was never trustworthy. this dog had to be constantly monitored when not in his crate- he was a lawsuit on legs).
or how about the GSD I trained from March to December? She was beautiful to look at, and behaved perfectly on leash but left alone and un-attended, was also a lawsuit on legs. Thank God my 3 year old nephew only had a scratch on his cheek and not half his face missing.
Try again Chris Shaughness, please take real-life sitations and film over, don't use fluffy sweet Goldens. Take some All-American Mutts or big bully breeds and work your magic.
Very big let down. Not sure what to do with this DVD. Not worth a nickel. |

| I walk dogs at a local shelter. Although I can only spend a limited amount of time with each dog, I found the insights that I learned from this video to be helpful in dealing with them all. However, I found this video most helpful in dealing with my newly adopted rescue dog. Using the positive and calm demeanor that I learned in the video, I was able to break through my dog’s apparent confusion at all the recent changes in her life and start the bond growing between us. I also learned to focus on the fact that even though I had adopted a 3 year old dog, I had to start from scratch with all the basic obedience and house manners training. The positive and loving training methods that Chris teaches are easy to learn, very natural and comfortable to use. I heartily recommend this video to all adopters of rescued dogs – especially first timers. |

| I provided a foster home for a rescued dog last year, and although I had raised two puppies, I was not familiar with dogs that weren't raised in loving homes and that came with habits that I had not created. I appreciated Chris Shaughness' gentle demeanor, her emphasis on rewarding positive behaviors, and her calm way of dealing with things like jumping, for example (my guy was a gentle jumper, but it was annoying to visitors, nonetheless). Her strategies were much more comfortable for me to do, than things I had been taught years ago. I wish I had seen this video when I was raising my puppies. I recommended it to a friend who adopted a shelter dog, and she said it changed their whole outlook toward their 'misbehaving' dog. |
