Not what I expected, January 5, 2006
Reviewer: Lisa
Hi, this book wasn't quite what I expected. I thought it would be more about working with children in the classroom setting (similar to the R.E.A.D. program), but it is more about reducing violence against animals to reduce the violence in our society and making that connection with children. It is tough to read at points with so much graphic material included (stories about violence against animals - it is a bit heavy-handed quite honestly). If you are planning on becoming a humane educator, you should read it, but if you want more casual involvement with canines in the classroom or wish to do more in the way of animal therapy, it is not the right book.
