A MUST have!, December 14, 2007
Reviewer: Susan
WOW! BUILDING BLOCKS FOR PERFORMANCE is a book that any competitive dog trainer should memorize. Bobby Anderson explains each topic thoroughly in detail without it being too much information.
In addition, the book was not too long and an easy read. I highly recommend this book. |

Not just for puppies!, March 21, 2007

I got this book right before I got a puppy, but I would recommend it for anyone interested in playtraining and working with a high-drive dog without squelching drive. It's full of games to play with your puppy, with the goal of 'being the center of his fun.' This is not a step-by-step training guide, but rather covers topics like how to use verbal praise, and why it's best to use a mix of play and food rewards. It's also full of little tips about how to be irresistible to a puppy. Parts of it are also an inspirational pep-talk from an impressive trainer, and she uses case histories of the training challenges she encountered with her own dogs. She also does a good job of anticipating problems you might encounter, and of showing you how things look from the puppy's point of view. This book is also full of wonderful photos of very very cute puppies.

Wonderful puppy starter, December 8, 2006

I just love this book. I started my sheltie puppies out with it and found it to be a wonderful confidence builder. I had puppies at 17 weeks in breed and obedience matches that had the confidence of full grown dogs. The best part they had fun learning it. No pressure just playing. Wonderful book.
