I've gone through the old age and passing of two dogs and have a very elderly sheltie at this time. I've bumble through the 'old age' years of all my dogs with my vet's help, but I was interested to know if there was more that I could/should know or do as I go through this a third time.
While there was no one bit of information that was a lightening bolt of enlightenment, the book is full of useful information on what to expect as your dog ages and what are the current choices of treatments for typical age-related conditions and how to evaluate, for your situation (for the dog, your family, your finances), when not to continue treatment.
An early chapter on nutrition and evaluating dog food was particularly useful. I will use that information for all my dogs at all ages. |
