UNLOCKING THE CANINE ANCESTRAL DIET - HEALTHIER DOG FOOD THE ABC WAY
by Steve Brown
Item: DN310
Steve Brown, an expert on canine nutrition, shows how you can bring the benefits of the canine ancestral diet to your dog by feeding him differently as little as just one day a week. And no, you won’t need to lead a pack of dogs on a hunting expedition! Just follow Steve’s well-researched and easy to follow ABCs to make improvements to whatever your dog currently eats.
Price: $17.95
Here's what Lindsay has to say about this book:
Unlocking the Canine Ancestral Diet: An easy to implement guide. Steve gives you step-by-step directions to improve your dogs diet. This is the first time I thought I could handle making my dog's food. The information about the kibble you buy in forty pound bags from the grocery store is informative and will change your buying habits!

LAUNCH A BALL 2 JUNIOR - NEON GREEN
by KYJEN COMPANY2
Item: K9X331
For fun and easy exercise, this tennis ball launcher is a little shorter and easier to handle. No more touching a wet, slobbery ball...just scoop it up and fling it.
Price: $3.95
Here's what Helen has to say about this book:
I enjoy the toys! This is perfect for grandchildren and dogs! It is much easier for me to carry and use than the longer ones and seems to throw the ball just as far. Keeps the grandkids and dogs busy and active while giving me a little rest.

ANIMALS IN TRANSLATION - USING THE MYSTERIES OF AUTISM TO DECODE ANIMAL BEHAVIOR
by Temple Grandin
Item: DTB826
One of the world's most celebrated animal scientists merges a lifetime of study with her extraordinary perceptions as an autistic person in a groundbreaking book that revolutionizes the understanding of how animals think and feel. Temple was one of the most popular speakers at the 2004 APDT Conference.
Price: $15.00
Here's what Larry has to say about this book:
This has to be one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. Temple Grandin, who I had the honor of meeting at the APDT conference in Denver a few years ago, is what is termed a "high functioning autistic." You would never know it to meet her. Her ability to perceive the world the way animals do opens up a whole new perspective on animal behavior, including that of dogs. Whether you are a trainer or not, I don't know how anyone could not enjoy this book if they are the least bit interested in animal behavior. I highly recommend it!

SPEAKING FOR SPOT - BE THE ADVOCATE YOUR DOG NEEDS TO LIVE A HAPPY, HEALTHY, LONGER LIFE
by Nancy Kay
Item: CDV197
In "Speaking for Spot," Dr. Kay provides an insider's guide to navigating the overwhelming, confusing, and expensive world of veterinary medicine with a warmth, candor, and humor cultivated over 20-plus years of working with canine patients and their human companions. She explains the vet's point of view, and how to initiate and nurture a healthy relationship with a vet and her staff. She leads a guided tour through a modern veterinary land comprised of high-tech scanning devices, advanced surgery, physical rehabilitation, and more--the kinds of amazing medical procedures you expect to find in a human hospital, but may not have known were available for your four-legged friends.

The result is everything you need to know in one fabulous, fully illustrated book. You will not find a more thorough, in-depth guide to ensuring high-quality treatment for your dog.

Price: $19.95
Here's what DJ has to say about this book:
If I had to limit myself to a single book that I would recommend to customers, friends and always keep on my personal book shelf, it is Dr. Nancy Kay's Speaking for Spot. It is an "insider's guide to navigating the overwhelming, confusing, and expensive world of veterinary medicine". (I suggest re-reading the book prior to making any visits to the veterinarian. It helps you comprise a list of questions to ask and topics to discuss with your pet's doctor.) At times, it can be very difficult to know that you are making the right choices for you and your canine family member. Speaking For Spot offers the assistance needed, especially when making those crucial decisions.

SHAPING SUCCESS - THE EDUCATION OF AN UNLIKELY CHAMPION
by Susan Garrett
Item: DTA260
Written by one of the world’s best dog trainers, Shaping Success gives an excellent explanation of the theory behind animal learning as Susan Garrett trains a high-energy Border Collie puppy to be an agility champion. Buzzy’s story both entertains and demonstrates how to apply some of the most up-to-date dog training methods in the real world. Clicker training!
Price: $24.95
Here's what Ashley has to say about this book:
My favorite book (which was a tough decision!) is probably Shaping Success by Susan Garrett. Though written specifically for agility enthusiasts, this book really touches base with anyone who trains their dogs for a competitive environment. Shaping Success tells the story of Buzz, a very active young Border Collie. Not only does this book cover all of Buzz’s accomplishments and disappointments, but it gives many positive training ideas along the way. All the troubleshooting that the author did with Buzzy is clearly explained and she defines the theory behind her solutions well. A+!

SO YOU WANT A DOG?
by Dick Hafer
Item: DEG720
"Questionable answers to your questions about doggie ownership!" Cartoons give some accurate and more very inaccurate information about dogs and dog ownership.
Price: $17.95
Here's what Jason has to say about this book:
So You Want A Dog? What a great book for first time dog owners! It is especially good for reading with your children to prepare them for dog ownership. If you love to laugh, this is a "must read".

WINTERDANCE
by Gary Paulsen
Item: DSL123
The fine madness of running the Iditarod based on a first person account of an amateur sled dog driver. Captures the beauty and danger of the seventeen day, 1180 mile ordeal.
Price: $15.00
Here's what Bill has to say about this book:
I am the dog show booth guy for Dogwise. I travel around the country setting up our display of books at about 40 dog shows a year. I am often asked about my favorite book, and I have a ready answer - Winterdance by Gary Paulson. This is the true story of a novice who decided to run the Iditarod. It is a great way to learn about the race and about sled dogs, but what I like the most is that it is hilarious. When I recommend it to people, they almost always look me up at a future show and say they agree that it is a great book!

POSITIVE PERSPECTIVES - LOVE YOUR DOG, TRAIN YOUR DOG
by Pat Miller
Item: DTB771
A complete dog training, puppy raising, problem solving, and basic health guide. Written as a series of columns in “Whole Dog Journal.”
Price: $19.95
Here's what Kristy has to say about this book:
I truly enjoyed reading Pat Miller's book Positive Perspectives. It is a simple and concise training book for the novice trainer/owner. I focused on Chapter 31, which discusses kids and dogs and how to introduce a new human baby into the pack. Pat's book is a great read full of useful information for anyone. She gives helpful tips that I would not have thought of to help make the transition a smooth process. Her positive methods and her idea of dealing with the problem before it happens made that transition as easy as possible.
