Once upon a time, someone (Susan, I think) here posted links to games you can play with your dog to help them learn to calm themselves. A friend is having some trouble with her dog getting over-stimulated while playing, and I thought the games would be helpful, but unfortunately I can't find the post any more

Anyone remember what I'm talking about? Even knowing what site/blog them came from might help me add a key word or two to my google seach.

Yes, September Morn has some good games at her site:

Anything like tug (wait, grab, drop), retrieve with a wait for release, variations of doggie zen would work. The trick for any of these is to recognize the signs of real relaxation in the dog - not just hair trigger waiting. Reinforce, slowly increasing criteria, calmness.

Control Unleashed is a good guide. I have been told that the new puppy version of the book is more user friendly and completely appropriate for adult dogs. Many trainers are recommending that instead of the original CU. I haven't read it yet, but it's on my list.
