Summary:This DVD covers how to train the most important behaviors and and skills needed for tackling reactivity.
This DVD covers how to train the most important behaviors and and skills needed for tackling reactivity. These in depth tutorials will show you how to lower stress, build calmness, build attention, train alternate behaviors, reinforce the absence of reactivity and most importantly build your dog's confidence and trust in you. The DVD also covers how to interrupt and prevent reactivity. In this training plan you will learn skills for using counter conditioning in order to change your dog's emotional response to things he fears, or that make him over-aroused. The making of this DVD was inspired by Splash, Emily's Border Collie, who used to be a highly reactive and fearful dog, and who now brings tears of joy to Emily's eyes instead of tears of sadness. Emily's goal is to empower the hopeless, who feel overwhelmed with the task of rehabilitating their beloved companion. This DVD is for those whose dogs are reactive to people, other dogs and objects. However, this same training method can be applied to dogs that are overly fearful or overly excitable in certain situations, but who don't become reactive. This is because the same goal is appropriate for all of these dogs; creating a dog that feels relaxed, calm, and WANTS to do what his handler asks in all situations.
Emily Larlham combines her artistic background and training skills to come up with creative, fast and reliable ways to solve problem behaviors as well as train complex behaviors and tricks. She created the term Progressive Reinforcement Training to describe a non-violent way of training animals that involves no forms of physical or psychological intimidation. Emily has led seminars in the United States, Canada, South America, Australia, Europe, Africa and Asia on Progressive Reinforcement Training. She is also known for posting free dog training videos on youtube under the name ‘kikopup’, with the desire that everyone should have access to information on how to train dogs in the most humane and ethical manner.
Good content, bad editing and presentation, March 29, 2015
While I really liked the content of this program, I have to say that Emily looked out of her element in the 'presentation' parts. She looks so much more natural in her youtube videos. And boy, did they do a bad job in editing.
With that said, the games/exercises are easy to follow and as a pet owner (not a pro trainer), I could easily apply them to my own situation unlike other DVDs that has a lot of applications to dogs involved in agility, obedience, etc.

I adopted a twice pre-owned Border Collie 4 years ago.If I had this DVD back then.. I would have made her better, rather than worse! Emily has packed this program with so much information and even more solutions! Not only will I utilize this program for my own dog, I will pass it on to my friends as well! Emily's free videos on youtube have already been a wealth of info and help, but this full program is worth every cent!!!
Best explanation of conditioning, November 29, 2013

Emily gives the best explanation of classic conditioning and counter conditioning that I have ever heard. I finally understand why we were struggling with making progress, what I was doing wrong, and how to fix it. Thank you Emily! Your DVD has made a huge difference for us.
