Every year in February we make a visit to New York for the annual awards banquet put on by the Dog Writer's Association of America which honors authors of dog books and articles in a number of categories. It's a great opportunity for us to meet with prospective authors and publishers in our never-ending quest to bring you the best high quality books for dog enthusiasts. This year will be particularly interesting for us in that three books from Dogwise Publishing are up for awards. Training the Disaster Search Dog by Shirley Hammond, My Dog Pulls by Turid Rugaas, and The Winning Team by Gail Haynes have all been nominated for best training book of 2005. We think they are all deserving (of course we are not biased), but there is only one winner in each category. Good luck to each of them!

While you may not be interested in heading to the awards banquet, rumor has it there is a little dog show being held across the street that weekend - something called the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. If you are going to Westminster, you should be aware that across the street from the Garden at the Affina Manhattan Hotel there will be several notable dog book authors doing a book signing. The event will be from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Saturday February 11th right off the main lobby of the Affina. Scheduled to be there are Darlene Arden, Pamela Dennison, Debra Eldrege, Denise Flaim, Amy Fernandez, Jean Keating, Susan Marino, Julia Szabo, and Wendy Wyatt.
