Dear Dogwise Customer,
While winter has not even thought about ending here in central Washington, signs of spring are beginning to show up in parts of the country and that means that the outdoor season for any number of competitive dog sports will soon be upon us. We have lots of items that have come in over the past few months that you may not be aware of that can help you and your dog be at your best when its time to shake the dust off and get outside and into the agility ring or onto an obedience or Rally course.
Foremost among the newer items is Susan Garrett's award winning Shaping Success (book of the year per the Dog Writer's Association of America). The story of Susan's successful effort to take an unruly Border Collie to a national agility champion using modern positive training techniques. A great story but an even better way to learn how to be a great trainer.
Deborah Jones and Judy Keller have added a series of DVD's to complement their best selling In Focus book to help your dog be a more responsive partner on the agility course. We have two of these in stock now - In Focus Foundation Work DVD and In Focus Crying for Control DVD. A third - Need for Speed - should be in stock by the middle of February.
Another element of getting your dog ready for the outdoor season, of course, is nutrition. Performance Dog Nutrition by Jocelynn Jacobs is an excellent resource for determining what food is best for your dog to enhance his working ability as well as a review of the benefits of certain nutrients and how they promote peak performance.
