Authors Jim Barry, Mary Emmen, and Susan Smith have done an excellent job introducing an all-positive approach to training gun dogs in the field - methods that are both humane and effective. Clear instructions, easy to follow diagrams and solutions to common problems.
Popular trainer and author Allan Bauman has been focusing recently on ways to help young children interact properly with dogs - ways that are fun and helpful for both sides. The result is Games & Rhymes for Dog Training Times, available in both book and DVD formats. As we have mentioned many times before, the interactions between dogs and young children represent a critical time in a dog's life in that if they are incompatible, the dog is the one who loses. And of course, getting children to interact properly and effectively with dogs can do nothing but good for the kids as well, especially as they grow up and hopefully become our future dog trainers and owners themselves.
