Nicole Wilde is one of our most popular and prolific authors, well known for her many books designed to help professional trainers deal with fearful and aggressive dogs and how to run a better training business. Little did we know that she also has an interest in hands-on healing techniques to improve canine health and behavior - in fact she is a Reiki Master. So we were pleasantly surprised to receive her newest book just yesterday, Energy Healing for Dogs. More and more dog folks are realizing that the techniques and methods that Nicole recommends can, as Suzanne Clothier says in her endorsement, "allow us to connect with animals in a profoundly moving way."
Also new this week is Michale Schaffer's One Nation Under Dog. We found that this book is a very interesting read, in part because the author is a journalist, not a hard-core dog person. And because of that, his outsider's observations on the relationships between Americans and their dogs are fascinating and instructive to read. Sometimes the best way to get a new perspective on things is to bring in someone with a fresh pair of eyes, and that is what you find here.
Today's new toy recommendation is the Mighty Gripz Ball which comes in three colors. It is a 6" diameter fetch, tug and play ball with a squeaker. It's durable and made to last. Easy to grab for dogs and people, it is made for interaction - not as an unsupervised chew toy. We know its great, because Lola (one of our office and book cover dogs) immediately grabbed one and claimed it as her own. These things are a lot of fun as Lola can attest to.
