Weekly Update from Dogwise: End of an Era |
|
Dear Dogwise Customer,
Dogwise is both happy and sad to announce that we are beginning to unwind our "national" dog show traveling booth operation. Bill Woodward, along with wife Judy, is retiring this fall after being on the road almost constantly for 16 years to enjoy life in Colorado. As you may know, Dogwise began back in 1987 when we put a load of books in the back of a Toyota Camry to take to a dog show in Puyallup, Washington with the hopes that maybe this would be a viable way to be in the book business without the hassle of having a store. Fortunately, it worked out. A few years later, Bill came on board and took charge of that part of the business and expanded it into a nation-wide operation. Dogwise would not be where we are today without Bill and Judy's efforts and we know their many friends around the country will miss seeing them out on the show circuit. Bill will continue his show schedule for a few more months - if you are in the area come say hi/goodbye and take advantage of some bargain prices as we start to lighten the load we normally carry. We are not totally going to be out of the dog show business, however. We will focus on shows in the Pacific Northwest close to home and continue to come to events like the APDT Educational Conference with a lot of books. How long we continue to do this is subject to some extent on whether or not dog show entries continue to decline and the cost of fuel.
