Weekly Update from Dogwise: Treats for Training
|

Dear Dogwise Customer,

As you likely know, we have been adding to our selection of food and treat products to complement the large number of books we carry on nutrition and feeding. Some treat items are particularly well suited for use in training due to their size and "reward value." Many of the leading training books recommend using high value treats - those that dogs will be really motivated to work for - when training relatively hard to learn behaviors. While opinions on what is high value will vary by trainer - and more importantly by dog! - here are some recommendations that you may find will work for you when you want to reward your dog with something special:
After the recent death of Rachel Page Elliott, many of you have been inquiring about the availability of her classic book, The New Dogsteps. The bad news is that there are none currently in stock either from us or the publisher. The good news is that we have reached an agreement to have a special print run done for 1000 copies, so we do expect it back in stock sometime in the next couple months. However, print runs can be tricky things and we can't with any degree of confidence tell you now when we will have them in our warehouse. So if you know you would like a copy, please send us an email to mail@dogwise.com and we will put you on a list and notify you when they come in. We do, of course, have Pagey's DVDs and her memoirs in stock.
For those many of you who have purchased Gail Fisher's book The Thinking Dog, you will have an opportunity to ask her questions on the Dogwise Forums beginning on April 27th.
Some of you who tried to place an order with us last Sunday may have gotten an error message at final checkout. Unfortunately, our credit card processor had a systems failure which caused this problem. It was resolved late Sunday and everything is now functioning properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.
