Weekly Update from Dogwise: Warehouse Rearranging #1

Dear Dogwise Customer,

We own a two story building in which we operate our business. Our basement is devoted to housing books that we publish in large quantities. Now we don't have the fancy forklifts and the kind of shelving you see in Costco or Home Depot. So when new books arrive from the printer on pallets, we take our trusty old pallet jack and wheel the books into the basement hoping we can find empty floor space to house the new book. As our publishing business has grown, space has gotten tighter down in the basement and now - more often than not - the arrival of a new book means we have to move a number of other pallets or stacks of books around to make room. Now this is not the worst problem (we are not complaining!) but our warehouse guys have to get really creative sometimes.

Given that we have a large number of new titles scheduled to be published over the next 6 months, this is as good a time as any to see if we can reduce the physical footprint of some of our older published titles to make room for the new ones. So starting now and over the next three weeks, we will be marking down the prices on some of our older classic titles. This week our featured sale titles are:

  • The Wild Canids edited by Dr. Michael Fox. This is the classic compilation of studies done on the behavior and evolution of wolves and other wild canids done in the 1960s and 70s which formed the basis of much of what we have learned about the development of the domestic dog. 30% off regular price through May 11th - only $18.87.
  • Working Dogs by by Elliot Humphrey and Lucien Warner. Originally published in 1934, this is the first scientific study to attempt to understand how to breed dogs, primarily German Shepherds, of superior intelligence, disposition, and physique for use in a wide variety of working dog capacities. This effort began the process, still evolving today, of better understanding how to breed for both the physical and temperament characteristics desired. 30% off regular price through May 11th - only $13.97.

Our Ebook selection continues to grow, new this week are:

  • Evolution of Canine Social Behavior Ebook by Roger Abrantes.
  • Before You Get Your Puppy Ebook by Ian Dunbar

  • Planet Dog is our featured line this week. They make durable, non-toxic and recyclable products all while being fully dedicated to satisfying both you and your best friend's needs. Their mission is to amuse, explore, support, innovate, create, educate, celebrate and philanthropate... all in the name of the dog. Click here for a complete listing of their products.

    Newest books & products:

    • Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts by Lucy Dillon. After losing her job and breaking up with her boyfriend, Rachel inherits her late aunt's house, her beloved border collie, and a crowded rescue kennel. As Rachel starts finding new homes for the abandoned strays, it turns out that it might not just be the dogs that need rescuing.
    • Care and Behaviour of the German Shepherd Dog by Dr. David Sands. In this unique book from the UK, expert animal behaviourist Dr. David Sands reveals the world from the German Shepherd's perspective and explains how to train and understand him psychologically rather than physically.
    • The Not Without My Dog Resource & Record Book by Jenny Pavlovic. Essential information about your dog in a user-friendly format for daily use, travel and emergencies. Just Grab it and go!
