- Training Dogs by Konrad Most. While his methods are considered overly harsh today, most students of dog training history consider Most to be the first "scientific" dog trainer. He understood the link between behavior and consequences, he understood how to use reinforcement, both positive and negative. It makes for fascinating reading today if you want to know how dog training got to where it is now. 30% off regular price through May 18th - only $12.57.
- The Dog in Action by McDowell Lyon. This was the first detailed study of canine locomotion and was largely treated as gospel for decades until the work of Rachel Page Elliott revealed some of Lyon's conclusions were incorrect.
