Weekly Update from Dogwise: From Tongue to Tail DVD |
|
Dear Dogwise Customer,
Dogwise Publishing is very pleased to announce that we have become the North American distributor of a fascinating new DVD from England called From Tongue to Tail - The Integrated Movement of the Dog, presented by Andy Mead. While movement and gait books (see below for recommendations) have been popular and available in this country for years, video treatment of the subject of how dogs move - and should move - has been sorely lacking in the past several years. We have been very impressed with the high quality and affordability of this DVD which makes extensive use of ultra slow motion and animation of the internal structure of the dog so you can evaluate how your dog moves, where stress may occur during exercise, competition and play, and activities that could be adversely affecting your dog. Take a sneak preview of the DVD by checking out this clip that highlights the pressures on the forequarters when a dog jumps.
Interested in exploring movement and structure even more? We have several suggestions, an even greater list can be seen by clicking here:
- Dogsteps - A New Look by Rachel Page Elliott. Our all time best seller on the subject.
- The Dog in Action by McDowell Lyons. This book is part of our Dogwise Classic series and was the first scientific study of movement in dogs, written in 1950. Many people still rely on this book for their information although in sections it is a bit dated, the cover alone is priceless in the eyes of many. This is our Book of the Week, 30% off regular price through May 23rd at only $17.47.
- Two books that focus more on structure rather than movement per se, but remember you can't really understand one without the other. These are Pat Hasting's Structure in Action - the Makings of a Durable Dog and Ed Gilbert's K-9 Structure and Terminology.
Our Ebook selection continues to grow. New this week is: EBOOK: K9 Kitchen - Your Dogs' Diet: The Truth Behind the Hype, 2nd Edition and EBOOK: Optimal Nutrition - Raw and Cooked Canine Diets: The Next Level.
Olly Dog Treat Bags now have new designs! The improved design comes with a strong magnetic closure for easy, one-handed operation. Three ways to carry the important training treats - with the removable waist belt, the belt clip, or the Velcro webbing loop. Lots of style, color and function for one great price. Check them out here.
Newest books & products:
- Twist `n Treat by Busy Buddy. The Twist `n Treat is the first and only 2-piece adjustable rubber treat dispensing toy. The rate of treat dispersal can be adjusted to suit the interest and ability of the dog. Available in two sizes.
- Juvenile Delinquent Dogs - The Complete Guide to Saving Your Sanity and Successfully Living with Your Adolescent Dog by Sue Brown. While we think of juvenile delinquents as adolescents or teenagers, juvenile delinquent dogs can be any age: puppies, adolescents, adults and sometimes even seniors. Whether your dog is an adolescent or just an adolescent at heart, this book is for you.
- A Trainer's Guide to Teaching Reactive Rover Classes by Kim Moeller. This DVD set is the complete guide to get you started in helping your clients. Kim walks you through how to teach a Reactive Rover class and in addition to complete instructions on structuring the class, you will also be a guest at a live five week course.
