Weekly Update from Dogwise: 2nd Call for APDT in Atlanta

Dear Dogwise Customer,

For those of you who might have missed our "first call," and especially for you trainers who live in the southeastern United States, here's another reminder to mark your calendars and plan to attend part or all of the 17th annual APDT Educational Conference to be held in Atlanta October 20-24th. Especially for you new trainers, attending one of these conferences is perhaps the best thing you can for your career. This year's conference is notable for an especially strong group of speakers (click here to see the list), many of whom are authors as well as trainers. And of course, our booth will be there in the exhibit hall to give you an opportunity to touch and feel the books before you buy. Here are just a sampling of speakers and their books:

  • Bones Would Rain from the Sky by Suzanne Clothier. Our Book of the Week, 20% off, only $11.99. This is one of the most beloved dog books we carry on working with and the relationships we form with dogs. If you don't have this book already, make sure you get it now or at the conference.
  • Kids and Dogs: A Professional's Guide to Helping Families by Colleen Pelar. A book written specifically for trainers to help families cope and survive raising kids and dogs together.
  • The Dog Vinci Code by John Rogerson. John is one of the true gurus of the dog training world, this is his first appearance at APDT in several years.
  • Excel-Erated Learning by Pam Reid. Perhaps the best book you can read on learning theory - a best seller for close to 15 years.
  • The Thinking Dog by Gail Fisher. This was the best selling book at last year's conference, a guide to how to cross-over to clicker training from other forms of training that you may have begun with.
Please note if you have sent us an e-mail this week and have not gotten a response please resend it as we have had some e-mail issues, or you can call customer service at 800-776-2665.

We've added several books to our bargain/clearance section this week. Make sure you visit this area of our web site whenever you stop by, you can find it on a tab along the top menu bar. This area includes dinged up books (many times you would never be able to tell!) or books that we are closing out of for a variety of reasons.

This week, our featured products are a new line of treats from Dogs Life. They come in Sweet Potato, Bacon & Cheddar, Steak Frite, and Turkey Jerkey. All of these treats are 100% natural and made with the best ingredients available. Each bag has a photo of the Dogwise.com taste testers too.

Newest Books and Products:

  • Dog Painting - A History of the Dog in Art by Willam Secord. A visual feast of outstanding work by British and American artists from the 19th and 20th centuries, this fascinating account of most of the popular breeds provides an original and penetrating artistic record and traces the evolution of 50 breeds.
  • Death in Show (Dog Walker Mystery #03) by Judi McCoy. Professional dog walker Ellie Engleman doesn't know much about the ins and outs of dog shows. But when one handler is killed, Ellie will learn that it's a dog-eat-dog world. Especially since the killer might now have it out for her. She and her sometime boyfriend, Detective Sam Ryder, will have to dig up the truth faster than a speeding bulldog...
