As you might expect, especially given the line of business we are in, the folks who work here at Dogwise have a lot of dogs, many who come to work every day. And of course we think they are a pretty special group of dogs. Little did we know, however, that Sadie the Pug - who belongs to our product guru DJ - would experience her 15 minutes of fame a couple days ago in her role as a search and rescue dog, not something you ordinarily associate with Pugs. When DJ came to work announcing with pride, "Sadie made her first live find!" we all thought DJ was a bit crazy (DJ, the woman who has a screen saver of a Pug licking her computer screen). But it turns out the other day as Sadie was patrolling around her home, she uncovered an elderly neighbor who had fallen down a steep hill and then "alerted" DJ that she had found something important. While we will never know for sure, there is a good chance that the gentleman might have died if he had not been uncovered, so Sadie really did perform a heroic feat. - Control Unleashed by Leslie McDevitt. We keep expecting sales to slow down a bit, but they don't!
- Learning Games by Kay Laurence. This great book on how to use play and games to train from England has been a real pleasant surprise.
- Oh Behave! by Jean Donaldson. This fascinating, fun, and educational book of essays is both challenging and delighting our customers.
- How to Run a Dog Business by Veronica Boutelle. You love dogs, but to make a good living working with dogs is only possible if you can successfully run a business to support your passion.
