Along with death and taxes, one thing we booksellers can count on is increasing costs for the books we sell. But every once in awhile, we get surprised by seeing books that based on their content and design actually appear to be underpriced - especially when those books come from a publisher that normally focuses on textbooks. Well, we have a set of four really great books now in stock that break the mold:

The Pet Lover's Guide to Cat & Dog Skin Diseases by Karen Campbell.

The Pet Lover's Guide to First Aid and Emergencies by Thomas Day.

The Pet Lover's Guide to Canine Arthritis & Joint Problems by Kurt Schulz et al.

The Pet Lover's Guide to Natural Healing for Cats & Dogs by Barbara Fougere.

Each of these books should be considered one of the best available for the subject covered, all have great full color illustrations, and are well written and easy to understand.

We put Control Unleashed: Creating a Focused and Confident Dog by Leslie McDevitt up on the web site about 10 days ago before we had much stock on hand. Given the large number of orders we received last week for it - with little promotion on our part - this book obviously is striking a chord with dog enthusiasts and is bound to be a best seller for the remainder of the year. The author has devised a training program she terms "Control Unleashed" to help dogs learn how to relax, focus, and work off leash reliably in stimulating (think agility) or stressful situations. Trish McConnell calls it "one of the best new books on training to come along in recent years," and we see no reason not to agree!
