One topic that has not been well covered in current training literature that we are constantly asked about is how to use clicker training and other fun, non-force methods to compete more effectively in agility. Well - we now have just the book - Click and Play Agility by Angelica Steinker. Not just another agility book, Angelica takes a step back and helps you gain the skills you need to build the proper foundations for competing in agility. So the first part of the book focuses on how to build attention and consistency and then moves on to a variety of games to keep your dog motivated and excited to learn what she needs to know for agility competition. This is not a book for beginners or for those who want to learn agility basics. Instead it presents a training philosophy and skills that can be used for a variety of behaviors including those that relate to agility.
If you want a basic agility book so you can decide if this is something you want to learn more about, check out The Beginner's Guide to Dog Agility by Laurie Leach. Very well organized and packed full of color photos, this book will give the novice what she needs to know to get started in this fun and healthy canine competition.
