As any of our long time customers know, we have been big fans of Jean ever since the publication of her ground-breaking The Culture Clash way back in the 1990's. One of Jean's heroes that she writes about in Neptune is Steven Pinker, author of The Blank Slate and many other books. So we thought it would be a nice touch to make The Blank Slate our book of the week, marked down 25% to $11.95 until August 19th. This book is concerned with one of the issues that frequently comes up when looking at canine behavior. Is the behavior displayed just instinct or is it molded by the environment? Or is it some combination of the two? While Pinker's work focuses on humans, there is a lot of applicability to dogs. Not real easy reading, but then again, its not a simple subject!
