When we think of Kentucky, many of us think of horses (or Daniel Boone if a history buff!). Maybe that is why one of the featured speakers at the APDT Educational Conference in Louisville, KY this October is Robert Miller, one of the foremost experts on horse behavior. Of course there always has been a linkage between dog and horse behavior/training, not only in that so many people own or raise both, but that many of the latest theories and methods developed apply to both. Since Dr. Miller is speaking this year and we have always tried to carry horse books applicable to dog folks, we now have in stock several of his books and of course will bring them to Louisville for the conference as well. While on the subject of authors who will be speaking at APDT, popular speakers Jim Barry (author of The Ethical Dog Trainer and Positive Gun Dogs) and Sophia Yin (author of How to Behave So Your Dog Behaves) will be appearing at the conference. All of the speakers who are authors are scheduled to appear at the Dogwise Author Book Signing on Saturday, October 18th. We will present the complete list of author/speakers in a future weekly newsletter as we get closer to the event.
