One of our most eagerly anticipated books for the year just arrived at our warehouse this morning - Help for Your Fearful Dog by Nicole Wilde. While there have been a number of smaller books written that have dealt with some aspect of fearfulness or shyness, Nicole's book is really the first complete look at all aspects of fearfulness and how to deal with it in a comprehensive way as a trainer or owner. This should be a great reference book for anyone who encounters fearfulness issues and their side-effects.

Nicole Wilde and many other well known experts will be speaking at this year's Association of Pet Dog Trainers educational conference in September in Kansas City. As usual, Dogwise will have our booth at the conference and be hosting an author autograph signing session on Saturday the 16th. One thing, however, will be different this year and those of you coming to the conference should be aware of it. Over the past several years, we have been able to offer our customers longer selling hours at the conference and this has helped avoid extreme crowding at our booth during the more limited time that the exhibit hall is open. Unfortunately we were unable to secure those longer hours this year and therefore we expect our booth will be very crowded when the exhibit hall is open unless the conference planners or APDT management pull some strings for us (and you!) at the last minute.

Here are a couple suggestions to get the books you want with a minimum of hassle. First, check out the list of speakers who are scheduled to appear at the conference before you go - books by speakers are almost always the most in demand. Then go to Dogwise.com and search for titles we carry by those speakers and come to the conference with a list already made up. For example, we expect books by speakers like Ian Dunbar, Ray Coppinger, and Susan Garrett among others to be especially popular. We always put these books right out in front of the booth stacked high on our tables. If you want to make sure you have these books at the conference, consider ordering online before you head to the conference and then bring along the ones you would like to have signed.

While we do not have them on our website yet, we are expecting a new book from Trish McConnell and a combined APDT Chronicle of the Dog/Dogwise Publishing trainer's reference book at the conference. As soon as we know they are on their way to us from the printers we will post them on the site and include them in a future weekly email update. So stay tuned!
