Weekly Update from Dogwise: Dogsteps Back in Stock! |
|
Dear Dogwise Customer,
|
Good news for those of you who have not been able to get your hands on the late Rachel Page Elliott's Dogsteps - A New Look for the past several months. We were able to get the publisher to do a special print run for us so we now have enough in stock (hopefully) to last at least a year. Dogsteps is considered the leading book on the subject of canine gait based on the pioneering work Pagey conducted with "moving x-rays" which cleared up many misunderstandings and myths about how dogs move.
One of the key topics to be featured at the APDT Conference in Oakland next month has to do with fear in dogs. So we want to feature two books - one brand new and one several years old - that touch on this subject:
- The new book is the latest from popular Canadian researcher and
author James O'Heare entitled Separation Distress and Dogs. This
is the most comprehensive look at this common and potentially
serious problem we have to offer. Includes a complete behavior
change program using positive reinforcement and shaping techniques.
- This older book is our pick for Book of the Week. Bringing Light
to Shadow by Pam Dennison was one of the first projects
undertaken several years ago by Dogwise Publishing and remains one
of our favorites. Pam came to us with an idea of publishing the
training diary she kept while working with a fear-aggressive dog
named Shadow. And the result was this fascinating journey -
detours, warts and all - that Pam took with Shadow over a two year
period to bring this dog to a point where he could pass his CGC
and become a successful Rally competitor. For any trainer who
works with fearful dogs, this book is a must-read as it probably
gives the most realistic picture of what can be in cases like this
a long and hard process. Available this week at a 25% discount,
only $14.96.
Our product feature this week is Orbee-Tuff COSMOS Ball. COSMOS are a playful assortment of gigantic orbs floating about the Milky Way: VENUS is pink, MARS is swirly silver, SOL is orange and LUNA, representing the moon, glows in the dark. Each has a Treat Spot™ for hiding big and healthy treats. Designed with big dogs in mind, they are appropriate for 65-100+ lb dogs. Cosmos is out of this world...but made in the U.S.A.
For those many of you who have purchased Nan Arthur's book Chill Out Fido!, you will have an opportunity to ask her questions on the Dogwise Forums beginning on September 14th.
