Weekly Update from Dogwise: Second Call for the APDT Conference

Dear Dogwise Customer,

Now about 40 days away, the APDT Educational Conference in Oakland, California is fast approaching. If you are thinking of attending, now is the time to step up and do it! As you know, the Dogwise booth can be a very busy place during the hours the Exhibit Hall is open. Unfortunately, we were not able to secure a separate room with longer hours for our booth this year, so it almost guarantees that we will be more congested than we were last year. One way to avoid the crowds is to buy some of the items in advance, especially from those authors who are going to be speaking at the conference. We mentioned some items by speakers about a month ago, but here are some more that should be hot sellers this year:

    • Sirius Puppy Training Redux DVD by Ian Dunbar. The godfather of the modern puppy training class concept will be speaking this year on this very subject. See where we have been and where we need to be in terms of how puppy training classes should be taught. This is the most comprehensive look at this common and potentially serious problem we have to offer. Includes a complete behavior change program using positive reinforcement and shaping techniques.

    • Great Dog Adoptions by Sue Sternberg. Sue will be speaking on "Train to Adopt" this year and her Great Dog Adoptions book is a must-have if you work with a shelter training dogs - or even if you get a dog from a shelter yourself. This is our Book of the Week available at a 20% discount for the next seven days, now only $14.80.

    • Getting a Grip on Aggression Cases by Nicole Wilde. Nicole will be presenting the "nuts and bolts" of aggression cases at APDT this year - this is the book you will want to have on this important subject.

    • Dogs are From Neptune, 2nd Edition by Jean Donaldson. Jean will be appearing on a discussion panel with noted trainer Bob Bailey exchanging ideas on training and research. Get a sneak preview of what Jean is thinking about in the revised and expanded edition of Neptune.

Our product feature this week is Dog Agility Coiled Leash Tabs. "Tabs" are mini-leashes are primarily used for helping to control and guide your dog between agility obstacles or just plain handy for any type of training when you need quick control. They stay attached to your dog's collar and don't get tangled up while running the obstacles or while working off leash.

For those many of you who have purchased Nan Arthur's book Chill Out Fido!, you will have an opportunity to ask her questions on the Dogwise Forums beginning on September 14th.

Thanks from all of us at Dogwise- hope to see you in Oakland in October!
