Weekly Update from Dogwise: APDT - Here We Come!

Dear Dogwise Customer,

One week to go before the APDT Conference in Covington, KY and we hope to see many of you there! While some of you are APDT veterans, every year we are surprised (pleasantly!) by the number of conference "puppies" who come, especially if the event is held in an area that is easily accessible to a large population base. So here are some exhibit hall tips and what you can expect from Dogwise for those of you who have never been to the conference before:

  • The exhibit hall is where you will find the Dogwise booth along with those of many other fine companies who you will want to visit. Due to a number of reasons (some of which we don't understand..), the exhibit hall hours are actually quite limited, so make sure you check the conference schedule carefully and reserve some time to visit. Understand that you cannot just wander into the Exhibit Hall whenever you might want to. You will find the exhibit hall can get quite crowded, especially on Thursday evening.
  • The Dogwise booth is often very congested, but after twenty or so years of doing this we have learned how to help you get what you want and on your way surprisingly quickly. One way you can help is to know what you want to buy before you arrive by checking our website or glancing through the Dogwise catalog that each of you will receive when you check in for the conference. In any event, we will have plenty of staff on hand to help you locate the books you want.
  • The most popular books at the event are almost always those written by conference speakers along with best selling training books that have come out in the past year since the last conference. We try our best to have lots and lots of copies of each one of these piled high on our tables. Sometimes we underestimate demand and sell out, but fear not, we will take special orders on anything we sell out of and not charge you any shipping fees to send them to you.
  • We once again will be co-hosting an Author Book Signing event on Friday and Saturday where you can get your book signed and have a few moments to meet the authors.

Here are some of the books that we expect to be hot items this year:
Newest books & products:
  • Do Dogs Dream? Nearly Everything Your Dog Wants You to Know by Stanley Coren. In a conversational Q&A format with illustrations, Coren answers approximately 75 questions often asked of him during his nearly fifty-year career as a dog researcher, combining the authority of an expert with the engaging delivery of a guest at a cocktail party.
  • Freestyle Training and Choreography DVD by Nancy vonKoehnen. The seminar explores ideas on how to develop a routine from start to finish in step-by-step exercises that can help you get started. There is discussion on the use of costumes, dog collars, and props to enhance the theme of your routine.
  • The Fastidious Feline - How to Prevent and Treat Litter Box Problems by Patricia McConnell. If you’re getting a kitten, adopting an adult cat, or having trouble getting your current feline friend to use the litter box consistently and correctly--this booklet is for you.
Looking forward to seeing you! Thanks from all of us at Dogwise.
