Sue Sternberg, one of the most influential and creative people in the world of dogs, is being given the prestigious APDT Lifetime Achievement Award at their educational conference this week in Las Vegas. Sue practically invented the art and science (it's a bit of both) of assessing the adoptability of shelter dogs while working in the basement of the New York City ASPCA back in the 1980s. Over the years, especially through her rescue and rehabilitation efforts at her own shelter in the Catskills, she refined her assessment protocols and helped spread the word to shelter workers and trainers through her books, DVDs and the seminars and lectures she has given world-wide. We carry all of her works (click here for the complete list). A few of her newer DVDs are shown above.
For those of you at the conference this week, we will have what are termed "proofs" available for you to review of Sue's latest book - Assessing Aggression Thresholds. While it is still being worked on, we expect to release it sometime before the end of the year. Please stop by our booth and get a sneak preview!
