Weekly Update from Dogwise: Training Games from Suzanne Clothier |
|
Dear Dogwise Customer,
One of the big hits at the APDT Conference last week was a brand new product from Suzanne Clothier: The RCT Training Games, a combination book/users guide and instruction cards for training games based on what Suzanne calls "Relationship Centered Training." It includes twenty four games to work on with your dog, each game having five different levels ranging from beginner to advanced. This should be a favorite of dog trainers to use in their businesses as well as appropriate for shelters and clubs. We literally had people running from Suzanne's presentation to our booth to make sure they got copies of it before we ran out!!
The other big seller at the conference, no surprise, was Grisha Stewart's Behavior Adjustment Training book. If you have been hiding under a rock for the past few months, make sure you take a look at Grisha's techniques for improving behavior in reactive and fearful dogs in a way that allows them to develop replacement behaviors that work both the dog and you.
New this week is Virginia Broitman's latest DVD entitled Fido Refined. In this DVD, Virgina turns her attention to enhancing your dog's impulse control is situations that typically spark excitable behavior. Like BAT, learning how to deal increase your dog's impulse control is a key skill for trainers and owners alike. In honor of Virginia's many great DVDs, our Book/DVD of the Week through October 26th is The How of Bow Wow (Building, Proofing and Polishing Behaviors), 25% off at only $26.21.

If you have not done so recently, you should check out our Bargain Books (click the Clearance tag on our home page) selection. As we mentioned recently, we are shutting down our dog show operation and are slowly but surely bringing stock into our warehouse. A lot of the items - after bouncing around in a trailer for months on end - are slightly scuffed or damaged, normally just the covers. We right now have more bargain book inventory than ever and if you don't mind a slightly scuffed book or getting a great deal on an older item then you should check this section out. We will be adding even more over the next couple months, so keep checking back.
