Weekly Update from Dogwise: "Good Reads" Part 2
|
|
Dear Dogwise Customer,
If you did not read last week's newsletter, here is a quick review of what we are calling a "Good Read." It is: (1) a book with solid information about dogs; (2) a book that can be enjoyed and understood by both dog enthusiasts and more casual dog folk; (3) a book that is well written, both informative and entertaining; and (4) a book that makes a great gift and can turn a client or casual dog owner into "one of us" - a dog enthusiast.
So here are some more:
- Reaching the Animal Mind by Karen Pryor. The "Godmother" of clicker training explores Karen's long career of using operant conditioning and all positive methods of training dogs and other animals. This is a great book to give to someone who is interested in dogs but has not caught on to clicker training (or try Karen's Don't Shoot the Dog). This is our Book of the Week until October 31, 20% off at only $12.00.
- Dog Sense by John Bradshaw. Imagine that, a great dog book filled with the latest research, written by a scientist rather than some celebrity, that makes the bestseller list. Miracles happen! You and anyone you give the book to will enjoy and benefit from reading it.
- Animals in Translation by Temple Grandin. Most of you now know who Temple Grandin is, a very bright woman with autism who's unique perspective on animal behavior makes for very informative and entertaining reading. If you already own this book, try one of her other books - they all meet the criteria of a "Good Read."
- Bones Would Rain from the Sky - Deepening Our Relationships with Dogs by Suzanne Clothier. While we have sold hundreds of copies of this book to dog enthusiasts, this book deserves even wider readership. Buy one for a friend who you think will enjoy the chance to build a better relationship with their dogs.
We have another new ebook this week EBOOK: Six-Figure Pet Business: Unleash the Potential in Your Dog Training, Pet Grooming, and Doggy Daycare Business by Kristin Morrison.
If you are looking for some interesting webinars check out the APDT's site. They offer many different topics by specialists in the field.
Newest books & products:
- Arousal, Anxiety and Fear: Empathy, Understanding & Options for Anxious or Fearful Dogs DVD by Suzanne Clothier. Is your dog just a bit shy? Stressed? Afraid? Wish you knew how to help? This 2 hour lecture by Clothier provides detailed information to help viewers develop empathy, understanding and humane options for their work with stressed or anxious dogs.
- Dissecting the Dynamics of Dog-Dog Play DVD by Nicole Wilde. Through entertaining lecture and extensive video footage, we will explore the nuances of dog-dog play. Viewing slow motion playback will reveal split-second body language, signals, and maneuvers that would otherwise be missed, and will improve your skills when watching dogs interact in real time.
- Orbee-Tuff Mazee by Planet Dog. Clearly engaging, clearly rewarding, clearly fun!
Planet dog's fresh take on the stimulating puzzle craze. This interactive brain teaser is designed for long-lasting play. With a pliable, Orbee-Tuff® outer shell, and unique inner maze. Stuff with dog treats and enjoy!
