Nose Work has probably been the fastest growing activity for dog enthusiasts and their dogs the past couple years. While we don't have statistics to prove it, the rapidly expanding number of books and now DVDs on the subject and their popularity certainly have convinced us! What is it that has made it so popular? Well, clearly the dogs love it - and that is the most important thing. Nose Work is less formal than traditional tracking or search and rescue, takes less time to get started, and you can do it alone or with a group. So we are very pleased that in addition to the growing number of books on the subject, we now have two great DVD's in stock so that you can see Nose Work in action:

• Nose Work Search Games DVD featuring Anne Lill Kvam and Turid Rugaas. This two hour DVD from Europe presents the theory and concepts relating to Nose Work in both a lecture/seminar setting (Rugaas) as well as extensive footage of Nose Work games and exercises being done in the field (Kvam). This DVD makes a great companion to Anne Lill's The Canine Kingdom of Scent in that you can see in action many of the games/exercises she teaches in her popular book.
• The Parker Videos - How One Dog Got Started in K9 Nose Work featuring Christy Waehner, her dog Parker and the NACSW. This 41 minute DVD is a training video diary covering several months of Parker's training sessions with commentary provided explaining exactly what is happening and reviewing the dog's progress. One of the best features of the DVD is the stop action aspect of it that shows exactly when the dog "gets it" so that the behavior can be marked and rewarded at the right time. The DVD does not provide extensive background information on Nose Work, thus the viewer will get more out of it if he/she has had some exposure to Nose Work either in person or through reading one of the Nose Work books.

• Arousal, Anxiety and Fear: Empathy, Understanding & Options for Anxious or Fearful Dogs DVD by Suzanne Clothier. Is your dog just a bit shy? Stressed? Afraid? Wish you knew how to help? This 2 hour lecture by Clothier provides detailed information to help viewers develop empathy, understanding and humane options for their work with stressed or anxious dogs.
• Rally Freestyle Elements - An Introduction to Rally-Free DVD by Julie Flanery. Rally-FrEe is a unique sport combining trick behaviors of Canine Musical Freestyle with the structure and format of Rally-Obedience. It emphasizes the precise execution of fundamental freestyle and obedience skills while encouraging creative and novel behaviors on a Rally-Obedience style course.
